Policies on honorary degrees, shared leave posted for 30-day review

The Provost’s Office under the division of Academic Affairs and the Human Resources Department under the division of Business and Financial Affairs have posted the following policies for 30-day campus review through Dec. 14:

  • POL-U2100.05 Awarding an Honorary Degree (Academic Affairs - Provost’s Office)
    • The above policy is a new policy. It applies to a WWU employee, student or advisory board member wishing to nominate a person for an honorary WWU doctoral degree.
  • POL-U5410.06 Requesting and Donating Shared Leave (Business and Financial Affairs – Human Resources)
    • The above policy is a new policy. This policy applies to all employees who are entitled to accrue sick and/or vacation leave and for whom accurate leave records are maintained.
  • POL-U5410.07 Accessing and Donating to Uniformed Shared Leave Pool (Business and Financial Affairs – Human Resources)
    • The above policy is a new policy. This policy applies to all state employees who are entitled to accrue sick leave or vacation leave and for whom accurate leave records are maintained. It is specifically addressing the Uniformed Shared Leave Pool.

The draft policies were reviewed by groups and individuals across campus and revised to reflect their input. A 30-day comment period is required prior to the final draft review by the President’s Cabinet. The policies will be posted from Nov. 15 to Dec. 14, and the campus community is encouraged to review these documents at http://www.wwu.edu/policies/30dayreview.shtml.
