Performances on the meaning of womanhood start Friday at the Firehouse

A performance written by Maria McLeod, an assistant professor of journalism at Western Washington University, will be performed on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 28 and 29, at the Firehouse Performing Arts Center in Bellingham.

"Body Talk: Sexual Triumphs, Trials, and Revelations," based on interviews McLeod has conducted with women throughout the United States, tells true stories about sex, birth, mothering, mammograms, menopause, wax jobs and what it means to be a woman.

The staged reading of dramatic monologues is presented by five women, including journalism instructor Sarah Eden Wallace, Fairhaven College professor Marie Eaton and Dance Program senior instructor Pam Kuntz.

"Body Talk" will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 28 and 29. Friday's performance will be interpreted into American Sign Language.

Tickets are available at Village Books in Fairhaven and online at http://bodytalk.brownpapertickets.com/.
