Participate in the 'Greatest Intercampus Scavenger Hunt Western Has Ever Seen' Feb. 7-14

Participate in the "Greatest Intercampus Scavenger Hunt Western Has Ever Seen" Feb. 7-14Housing continues to get creative to cultivate campus-wide engagement, while adhering to local, state and University health standards, and its latest effort is a campus-wide scavenger hunt, inspired by Bellingham resident and actor Misha Collins. Buchanan Towers Resident Advisor Kaitlin Losansky will launch the Greatest Inter-Campus Scavenger Hunt Western Has Ever Seen for a week-long scavenger hunt modeled after the international media scavenger hunt created by Collins and Random Acts of Kindness.

GISHWHES, for short, will take WWU by storm from Feb. 7-14. Anyone is welcome to complete in more than 60 challenges that will be released through the Western Involvement Network. Campus residents, off-campus students, and University staff are encouraged to participate. Campus residents will have the chance to win prizes based on the number of points awarded to each residence hall, total individual points scored, or outstanding individual submissions. Participants might even be featured on the Western Washington University Instagram and WWU Housing Instagram pages throughout the week.

“No matter what you can do or where you are, there is something crazy you can accomplish,” Losansky said. “If you have a cool hat, or you know how to skateboard, or you like to draw or sing or dance, you can bring that into a challenge and expand upon it.”

Participants are required to wear masks when doing challenges in public indoor spaces and where social distancing is not possible, such as walking around town wearing a robot suit made only from cardboard boxes. However, not every challenge takes place outside. Some challenges, like assembling a puzzle using anything but your hands, are done individually. There is no wrong way to complete a challenge, as long as you are doing it safely!
