Parking Services adds new ability to pay using smartphones

On June 20, Parking Services launched ParkMobile.  Students, faculty, staff, and visitors will be able to use the ParkMobile app to park at many of the parking lots. Customers can pay to park with their smartphones using Parkmobile’s app for iPhone, Android, Windows, Amazon, and Blackberry phones, online at www.parkmobile.com or by calling the toll-free number on the green meter stickers and signs.

"Adding this functionality to our parking system will greatly increase the ability of our students, faculty, staff and visitors to more easily take care of their parking needs," said Western Washington University Chief of Police Darin Rasmussen.

Parkmobile’s mobile payments system is very simple and easy to use. Customers first must register by downloading the mobile app in their phone’s app store or online at www.parkmobile.com. Once registered, they may use the mobile app, internet, or the toll-free number listed on signage to pay for parking. After setting up their account, customers can immediately start using the system with their registered mobile phone. Mobile app users may also choose to receive alerts and reminders 15 minutes prior to their parking session expiring.

Parkmobile’s mobile payment solution is an added payment option and is intended to complement existing parking payment options.
