Open forum on late-night shuttle set for Nov. 4

The Associated Students Alternative Transportation Office is holding a late-night shuttle open forum at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 4, in Viking Union Room 552.

The Happy Valley area south of Western’s campus is one of the heaviest student-populated areas off-campus in Bellingham. It has been underserved by the shuttle in past years. A proposed extension of Route A would send the shuttle down 21st Street to Donovan Avenue and then back up 32nd Street to Bill McDonald Parkway. The shuttle would stop at WTA bus stops along the way.

The purpose of the forum is for students and Happy Valley residents to ask any questions or express concerns about the shuttle and the plans for extending the route. Zach Dugovich, AS vice president for student life, and Karen Izumoto, AS alternative transportation coordinator, will be addressing the questions and concerns of attendees. They met with the Happy Valley Neighborhood Association board on Sept. 10, and the plan was given the approval of those present.

For more information about the Nov. 4 forum, or for disAbility accommodations, contact Karen Izumoto by phone at 360-650-7741 or by e-mail at as.transportation@wwu.edu.
