Nov. 30 is deadline to enroll or re-enroll in FSA, DCAP plans

Western Washington University employees wishing to enroll in or continue Flexible Spending Arrangements and/or membership in the Dependent Care Assistance Program should do so during open enrollment. Those with an FSA or DCAP need to re-enroll each year by Nov. 30 to continue.

A FSA allows employees to set aside part of their paychecks, before taxes, to cover qualified expenses for themselves and their family members. Employees may set aside as little as $240 or as much as $2,500 during 2015, which will be deducted from each paycheck in equal installments. When they incur qualified medical expenses, employees can pay them with an FSA debit card or submit claims for reimbursement. The DCAP allows employees to set aside part of their paychecks, before taxes, for child and elder care expenses. In 2015, employees may set aside up to $5,000 per household ($2,500 if married and filing separate tax returns), which will be deducted in equal amounts from each paycheck. When they incur child or elder care expenses, employees submit the claims to Flex-Plan Services for reimbursement.
