Nominations sought for 2009 annual International Education Award

The International Education Award recognizes the efforts of members of the Western Washington University community in expanding global awareness and international understanding on the campus and in the surrounding communities. It was established in 2008 to highlight exceptional innovations in curriculum development, facilitation of study abroad activities and provision of services to international students and scholars.

The award is presented annually by WWU's Center for International Studies in a ceremony held during International Education Week, which this year will be Nov. 9 to 13.

Any faculty member, staff member or student of the WWU community may be nominated for this award. Nominations should include a cover letter summarizing the accomplishments of the candidate(s), a curriculum vitae or resume and appropriate supporting evidence concerning the nominee's or nominees' contributions to international education at Western.

Nominations should be submitted to Doug Nord, executive director of the Center for International Studies, by Friday, Oct. 30. All nominations will be reviewed by a panel of professors representing different colleges before a selection is made.
