Nominations for community engagement award due June 30

Western Washington University prides itself on service to others. Whether it be to students, each other or frequent guests to campus, Western is a place where giving of self truly matters.

And we all know someone we work with who is a pillar of the volunteer community and is worthy of nomination to receive the Philip E. Sharpe Community Engagement Award. The award is presented at opening convocation and is a great way to recognize a colleague who does so much outside of work responsibilities for the greater Bellingham, Whatcom or even world community.

Past recipients include Jim Loucky for his work with the Bellingham Human Rights Film Festival, David Willett for service throughout the local community and in Malawi and Jeff Carroll for raising national awareness of Huntington’s Disease.

Nomination forms are due by June 30.
