Nominations due by June 28 for Outstanding Classified Staff Award

The Outstanding Classified Staff Award recognizes a single individual who exemplifies a positive and creative approach to problem-solving and innovation that significantly advances departmental goals and/or the university mission.

With the support of the president, the two classified staff unions on campus (WFSE and PSE) together select one of their members to receive this award, which is presented each year at opening convocation in the fall.

Nomination Process:

All nominations must be submitted via the on-line nomination form by 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 28. Nominations may be made by any university faculty or staff member. Nominees must be a permanent classified staff member who has completed 1 year of service by the nomination due date.

The award recipient will be recognized at Opening Convocation on Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012. Previous winners are June Fraser Thistle (2011) and Heidi Zeretzke (2010).

Criteria:

To be considered, the individual must demonstrate contribution to the work unit, department, college or the university that furthers Western's mission and strategic goals through any of the following ways:

  • Excellence in job performance resulting in effectiveness, innovation, diversity, and/or sustainability
  • Personal initiative and leadership that supports and builds a positive work environment
  • Innovative approach to problem-solving
  • Outstanding service, commitment, scholarly or creative work that contributes to Western's learning community
