New suicide prevention program searching for name

A new program to help members of the Western Washington University community in emotional distress is getting started on campus.

This new suicide prevention program uses an approach called Upstream Suicide Prevention. The goal is to help students not only when they are in crisis, but as early as possible. The program also will enable and empower students to help each other.

Several fun events and trainings are planned for the fall, but first the program needs a name.

Because the program wants a name that reflects the Western community, they're asking for feedback on name suggestions. These suggestions were developed by Western students and staff. Write-in choices also are being accepted.
