More than 100 WWU students participate in annual Memorial Day parade

Western participated in Bellingham's annual Memorial Day parade on Saturday, May 25 with its largest showing in decades.

More than 100 students representing multiple WWU organizations walked, drove, danced and performed their way down Cornwall Avenue for parade watchers who braved the rain. WWU students handed out Viking tattoos, coupons to Woods Coffee and the A.S. Bookstore along with other WWU swag.

“Western has been a proud member of the Bellingham and Whatcom County community for 125 years and there’s no better way to celebrate that than by participating in one of our community’s great longtime events,” said Chris Roselli, director of Community Relations at Western. “I’m excited that so many students showed up to celebrate being a part of the Western and Bellingham community and we look forward to celebrating our community and honoring our heroes in the parade for years to come.”

The 111 WWU participants included representatives from:

  • Veterans Services
  • AS Recycle Center
  • WWU Cheer
  • Men’s Basketball
  • WWU Club Sports featuring:
