Millie Johnson to present 'mini-course' to faculty and staff about the WWU math GUR courses

Millie Johnson, an associate professor in the mathematics department at Western Washington University, will be leading an upcoming two-part "mini-course" on her mathematics GUR class. Johnson's presentations are part of the Faculty GUR Group, which allows professors to share with their colleagues throughout campus information they might not be familiar with.

Johnson's presentation, called “It's a Plot! – Analyzing, Interpreting, and Predicting – Using Mathematical Models,” will discuss what SAT scores, celebrity ages and radioactive contamination of the Columbia River have to do with scatter plots and best-fit models. The mini-course will be seasoned with the exciting goals and purposes of the mathematics courses at WWU.

All faculty and staff are invited to attend. There are two dates, each covering different material. Attend both or either:

  • Tuesday, Oct. 12, 4 to 5 p.m., Bond Hall Room 110
  • Thursday, Oct. 14, 4 to 5 p.m., Bond Hall Room 110
