Military and peace groups to address veterans' issues May 26 at WWU

The Associated Students Veterans Outreach Center and the Veterans Outreach & Support Network present "Serving our soldiers: military and peace communities working together" at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 26, in Academic Instructional Center West Room 204.

The panel, which is free and open to the public, is an opportunity to bring together individuals from military and peace backgrounds who are dedicated to serving veterans. The panel members will discuss ways members of the community can collectively serve the new generation of young veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.

Speakers include Rick Hamilton, coordinator of the Whatcom County Veteran Assistance Fund; Paul Wentland, service officer for American Legion Post No. 7; Gene Marx, coordinator of Veterans for Peace Chapter 111; and Marie Marchand, executive director of the Whatcom Peace and Justice Center.
