Meeting May 22 to discuss campus water main replacement

Construction will begin in June on a project to replace the aging, cast-iron water main that runs through campus from Bond Hall to Oak Street.

A town hall presentation on the project, officially labeled Public Works Project 654, will be held at noon May 22 in the Wilson Library Presentation Room (WL164F).

This main is being replaced to ensure that all campus buildings have adequate fire flows. Construction will begin in mid-June and is scheduled to be complete the end of August. Because the project will take place in the campus core, circulation routes will be affected. Additional impacts will be discussed at the May 22 meeting.

The meeting agenda will include:

  • project description
  • review of utility requirements
  • scheduling and phasing
  • construction impacts
  • safety concerns

Project representatives from the Office of Facilities Development and Capital Budget, Facilities Management and Wilson Engineering, LLC will be available to address any questions or concerns.
