Meet the Winter Quarter Office of Communications and Marketing/Western Today Intern Team

It’s 2017 and the start of a new quarter here at Western Washington University. This winter the Office of Communications and Marketing will have five new interns producing content for Western Today while doing a myriad of tasks within the office.

Caleb Albright, a senior Visual Journalism major who was born and raised in Seattle, stumbled upon photography his freshman year of high school and has been working on it ever since. Starting with creative photography, Albright didn’t find Visual Journalism until he came to Western but it only took one Journalism class to convince him that he had found the right major. Since then he has shot for multiple publications and grown into multiple different styles of photography. When he isn’t shooting for Western or in class, Albright can be found enjoying the outdoors, from skiing the slopes of Baker to hiking Oyster Dome.

Evan Keen, a senior Public Relations major from Puyallup, found a love for writing at a young age and has followed that passion into college. He chose to major in PR after taking an introductory course in college where he fell in love with the practice. Evan wants to use his PR and Communications experience to work within the music, film or sports industry as this is where his passion lies. He has interned at music management company Atom Factory in California where he produced PR materials for the manager of John Legend and Meghan Trainor. Locally he has also worked with Chuckanut Brewery on their PR needs. When he’s not at work you can find Evan combing through the week’s new music releases or hiking across the Pacific Northwest.

Rossella Bernocco, a senior Public Relations major from Stanwood,  took an entry-level Journalism class early in her college career and loved it, which made her decide to major in Journalism with a concentration in Public Relations.  Rossella hopes to work for a company like Amazon or Google after she graduates. When Rossella is not is school, you can find her hiking or playing Ultimate Frisbee.

Paloma Ovesen a senior Communication Studies major and Leadership Studies minor from Yakima came to Western to pursue a business degree in Management but later realized her passions lay elsewhere.  Communication Studies grabbed her attention and she set off to become a Communication Studies major and she said it was the best academic choice of her student career.  Paloma describes herself as an artsy outgoing type with a passion for art, people and photography.

Christina Becker is a Visual Journalism major and Sociology minor originally from the Chicago area said she chose Visual Journalism due to her love for photography and a desire to make a difference in the world.  After she graduates, she hopes to work as a photographer for a major newspaper.  She spends her free time playing board games and watching puppy videos.
