'Lofty Aspirations' art piece to be installed in VU Nov. 30

Dreams, hopes and goals of Western Washington University students, faculty and staff are immortalized in “Lofty Aspirations,” a paper sculpture that will be unveiled at 5 p.m. Nov. 30 in the lobby in front of the Viking Union post office on the fifth floor.

The large-scale wall sculpture was created by art department faculty members Cara Jaye and Seiko Purdue in celebration of the Viking Union’s 50 year anniversary. The handmade cloudscape extends from the seventh floor to the fifth floor, next to the post office.

Jim Schuster, Cara Jaye and Seiko Purdue will speak at the event. Refreshments will include seasonal cookies, apple cider, coffee, cheese, crackers and fruit.
