Lecture today: How the War of 1812 helped create a Canadian identity

As a complement to the traveling exhibit hosted by Heritage Resources commemorating the recent Bicentennial of the War of 1812, Jared Hardesty will explore how the war helped create a Canadian identity that was in conversation with, yet separate from the emerging United States, giving the American-Canadian border meaning beyond a mere political boundary, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 15.

The event will take place in Western Libraries Special Collections (Wilson Library sixth Floor).

Offered as part of Western’s “Active Minds Changing Lives” week, this event is sponsored by Heritage Resources and the Center for Canadian American Studies.
