Jim Lortz named to Washington State Thespians Hall of Fame

Jim Lortz, an associate professor of Theatre Arts at Western Washington Univeristy, has been named to the Washington State Thespians Hall of Fame.

The award, handed out by the group Washington State Thespians, honors adults who have made "an exceptional contribution to the growth of theatre and theatre education in Washington state," according to an announcement from the organization.

Teri Grimes, a member of the Washington State Thespian Board of Directors, said in her nomination of Lortz that he has a "profound effect on theatre students of Western Washington University, the theatre community of Bellingham and to many professionals across the country.

A Hall of Fame dinner will be held in honor of Lortz at 5:30 p.m. today, Oct. 8, in Tukwila.

The Washington State Thespians organization is an affiliate of the Educational Theatre Association.
