It's cold, dark and stormy. Is Western open?

Winter weather has struck the Northwest, and Western Washington University officials are paying close attention to the weather to determine whether conditions are safe for operations at the university and for travel to and from campus.

To stay up to date on possible closures and delays at WWU, pay attention to these sources:

  • The university website. In the event of a delay or a closure, the WWU website will be updated regularly with the latest information. Also pay attention to the WWU emergency website.
  • The storm line/emergency hotline. The WWU storm line, at (360) 650-6500, is updated each morning on days of questionable weather.
  • The radio. Tune in to KGMI AM-790* for weather updates and closure information.
  • Your e-mail and cell phone. If you're a WWU student or employee and you've submitted your cell phone number via Web4U, you'll get a message sent to your cell phone via the Western Alert system when campus is fully or partially closed.
