International Opportunities Fair set for Jan. 26 on campus

Western Washington University's annual International Opportunities Fair will take place on campus from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, in the Viking Union Multipurpose Room.

The fair is the largest campus-wide event dedicated to providing information about work, volunteer, study and internship positions abroad. Attendees can meet with representatives from approximately 60 organizations. Some participating organizations include the Peace Corps, U.S. Passport Office, Semester at Sea, International Au Pair Exchange, American Institute for Foreign Study, Hess Education, Teach and Learn in Georgia and a wide range of internationally focused programs at WWU.

Featured will be the WWU faculty-led 2012 study abroad programs. These unique international learning opportunities include disciplines such as environmental studies, ecotourism, tropical marine biology, sustainable development, TESOL, Chinese language, classical studies, art, and more.

  • Native English speakers with 4-year degrees can teach overseas: Teach English as a Second Language: a panel discussion with employers - 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, Viking Union Room 552
  • For certified teachers who are considering teaching abroad: International Opportunities for Certified Teachers - 4:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 23 p.m., Old Main Room 280
