International Education Week is Nov. 15-19; join in Western's slate of events

A brown banner with the outline of a green ribbon. Words on the banner read International Education Week; Engaged, Resilient, GlobalInternational Education Week (IEW) is right around the corner! This year, IEW runs from Nov. 15-19 and is an opportunity for our university to join campuses across the nation in celebrating the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide.

This joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education promotes programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences. On Western’s campus, events are organized by the Institute for Global Engagement and the office of Language and Culture Programs in Outreach and Continuing Education.

You may remember the many wonderful engagement opportunities hosted online last year on Western's IEW website. The flexible format was so popular that Western will continue to share online options this year, as well as some exciting in-person content. Visit the updated website to see all workshop and activity details.

Highlights of the week’s events include a special Western Abroad 101 Info Session, Peace Corps Trivia and Information, Critical Conversation webinar, and a Global Spotlight series. Global Spotlight events are designed to share information about specific countries from the joint perspective of international students from the country and WWU students who studied abroad there. See the website for details and additional opportunities. *Some events require signing up in advance.
