Institute for Global Engagement's Reel World Film Series announces spring films

The Reel World film series hosts monthly films on campus to raise awareness about other cultures and about global issues. 

All films are free and open to the public.

All film spring quarter will be screened in Miller Hall 138.They include: 

"The Peace Agency," April 11, 6 p.m.: Lian Gogali and her 500 female students are a force to be reckoned with in the conflict-torn area of Poso, Indonesia. This film follows Lian’s remarkable journey from her village to New York City to create The Women’s School, an institution that transforms its all-female class into agents of peace and non-violent grassroots activism. "Bajirao Mastani," May 2, 6 p.m.: An epic historical drama full of action, romance, and intrigue, this film follows Bajirao, a general of the Maratha Empire, through love and war. This lavish production transports the viewer to 18th century India with stunning visuals, elaborate costumes, and beautiful cinematography. Historical drama, 2015. 158 minutes. "Sugar Coated," May 23, 6 p.m.: Is sugar the new tobacco? As diabetes and obesity rates rise around the world, experts weigh in on the role of Big Sugar on our growing health crisis and predict an all too familiar battle between industry and science.
