In memoriam: John Moore, 1931-2015

John Moore died Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at St. Joseph Hospital in Bellingham. He was 83.

Moore was born Dec. 19, 1931, in Chicago to Herbert and Mildred (Shepard) Moore. He earned a bachelor's degree in engineering at the University of North Dakota, a master's degree at the University of Colorado, a J.D. at the University of Colorado and a Ph.D. in business at the University of Washington.

He served in the U.S. Air Force as a meteorologist and continued to serve in the Air Force Reserves, retiring as a lieutenant colonel. He worked at the Washington State Health Department in Olympia before moving to Bellingham, where he taught business at Western Washington University for nearly 30 years, retiring in 1998.

One of Moore’s favorite activities was world travel and racking up frequent-flyer miles. He was devoted to his family and his home.

He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Moore in 2011. In 2012, he married Donna Fields Moore. He is also survived by daughters Katherine Moore of Seattle and Annie Moore (wife Melissa Anderson) of Seattle, sister Jane Rose of Colorado, and Donna’s children Hunt Rochon of Bellingham and Heather Magnusson (husband Todd) and their children Collin and Bryn of Bellingham.
