Health Professional & Graduate School Fair to be held Oct. 20

An annual fall Health Professional & Graduate School Fair (sponsored by Pre-healthcare Professions Advising and Career Services) occurs Thursday, October 20, in the VU MPR from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Admission representatives offering professional, doctoral, master, and certificate programs for healthcare professions and other academic disciplines will be available to meet students.

Pre-healthcare students (of any major) can explore information on MD and DO programs to become a doctor, veterinary medicine, audiology, chiropractic, communications sciences & disorders, speech-language pathology, dentistry, gerontology, healthcare administration, pharmacy, podiatric medicine, optometry, nursing, occupational therapy, physician assistant, physical therapy, social work, epidemiology/public health, nutrition, natural and oriental health programs, neuroscience, and numerous psychology and counseling programs.

Additional graduate programs attending include studies of business, accounting, finance, marketing, engineering, creative writing, teaching, theology, law, ministry, information studies, the environment, and more.

Forty-two vendors will attend. Four are WWU programs, including the Graduate School, and eight UW schools and programs are participating.  Also present will be Kaplan Test Prep, military health scholarship programs, and Peace Corps. 

In tandem, PhysAssist Scribe job recruitment will be featured in the VU lobby, and five post-fair info sessions will be delivered by Life Chiropractic West, National College of Natural Medicine, Northeastern University, and Kaplan Test Prep.

Additionally,  the Career Services Center will host a presentation series in conjunction with the annual Health Professional and Graduate School Fair:

10 a.m. - 2 p.m. in the VU Lobby:  Representatives from PhysAssist Scribes will host an information table located in the Viking Union Lobby.  Learn about opportunities to be trained as a medical scribe to work alongside physicians in the Emergency Department at PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center in Bellingham, WA as well as across the country.   

2:30-3:30 p.m. in the Career Services Center Old Main 280:  Meet Admissions Representative, Joey Jennings of Life Chiropractic College West, located in Hayward, California.  Learn about opportunities to find a health career that taps into your talents and passions, creating a life-long career you will love.

2:30-3:30 p.m. and 4-5 p.m. in VU 714:  Meet Melissa Conner, a company representative from Kaplan Test Prep, located in Des Moines, WA.   Kaplan Test Prep offers preparation resources for more than 90 standardized tests, including entrance exams for secondary school, college, and graduate school. 

3-4 p.m. in VU 460:  Meet Associate Director of Admissions, Danielle Law, of the Natural University of Natural Medicine (NUNM), located in Portland Oregon.  Learn about programs in natural medicine education and training that include naturopathic medicine, integrative medicine research and mental health, global health and nutrition.  NUNM is the oldest accredited naturopathic medical university in North America. 

4-5 p.m. in the Career Services Center Old Main 280:  Meet Admissions Representative, Bryan Fouquet of Northeastern University located in Seattle, Washington.  Learn about opportunities to pursue an MS in the Computer Science ALIGN program, which is designed for students from a variety of academic disciplines and prepares them to be leaders and innovators in the technology sector.
