Health care reform: What does it mean for you?

Jeanne Freeman, an assistant professor in the department of physical education, health and recreation at Western Washington University, will talk about her “Introduction to Public Health” GUR course and examine the complex issue of health care reform as part of the Faculty GUR presentation series at WWU.

After much national debate, President Obama signed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act legislation in 2010. With the implementation of this act during the next few years, many changes will occur and impact each American resident. In her presentations, Freeman will explore what the implications of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act are for our diverse society.

  • All faculty and staff are invited to attend this two-part “mini course” offered on two dates, each covering different material. Attend both or either:
  • Part 1: Noon to 1 p.m. April 9 in Viking Union Room 567
  • Part 2: Noon to 1 p.m. April 16 in Viking Union Room 567

The idea behind the Faculty GUR Group is that faculty–as well as students–need to sustain their general education. With this in mind, the Faculty GUR Group was formed to bring together people from different departments across the university to allow each participant to enhance their general education by acquiring useful knowledge their colleagues consider basic.
