Greg Pepin to speak April 15 on international business development

Greg Pepin, recently retired as vice president of Boeing International and president of Boeing Turkey, headquartered in Ankara, will speak from noon to 1 April 15 in Communications Facility Room 120 on “International Business Development (Organizational and Individual).”

Pepin will discuss how knowledge of language and culture enable people to develop successful careers working in the world beyond the U.S. or with international companies in the U.S.

Pepin joined Boeing as the company’s country director of Turkey in 1999 after serving in the U. S. Army for 26 years. The Army assignments included five assignments and living for more than 20 years in Turkey, using his knowledge of the language and culture.

A graduate from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1973, he had various field artillery assignments before completing a masters degree in International Studies at the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School. Ten months of Turkish language training at the Defense Language Institute prepared him for the first of his five assignments in Turkey, including a stint as Army Attaché attached to the US Embassy in Ankara.

Pepin served with distinction in combat during his military career, including assignments in the UN Peace Keeping Force in Syria and Egypt, and during operations to liberate Kuwait, receiving many decorations.

Pepin has retired to his native Walla Walla.

Sponsored by the Center for International Studies, this lecture is free and open to the public.
