Graduate students to share research, theses at April 18 conference at WWU

Western Washington University graduate students from a wide range of departments will be presenting their research, thesis projects and other work at the fourth annual Graduate Student Conference from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, April 18, in Miller Hall 152. Speakers will cover fields such as psychology, anthropology, physical education, English, environmental science, chemistry, biology, mathematics and computer science.

There will be morning and afternoon talks, with a break for lunch from 12:30 to 2 p.m. During the lunch break, there will be a poster exhibition session in Miller Hall 102 during which attendees are encouraged to meet the speakers and discuss their research in a casual setting.

“The idea is to showcase the incredible and diverse work and leading-edge research being done here at Western by our students,” said Kat Nikolich, a biology graduate student. “Personally, this is my favorite conference all year because the atmosphere is supportive and casual, and I can really have a chance to express myself and have fun with presenting my work.”

There will be door prizes and snacks are provided. The conference is open to the public and all members of the WWU community, including undergraduate and graduate students as well as faculty and staff, are encouraged to attend. For more information, contact Kat Nikolich at nikolik@students.wwu.edu.
