Give Day is Today: Here’s Why Every Gift Matters

“I just wanted to express my heart felt gratitude for your generous donation to the Student Emergency Fund Scholarship. The quarantine hit my family particularly hard…This money not only helps us pay our mortgage, it puts food in my kids’ mouths. I really cannot thank you enough for your generosity.

This is my final year at Western. I intend to graduate with B.A.’s in creative writing and literature with a film minor in January of 2021. My college experience has been a refreshing challenge. I waited until I was 36 to go back to school and chase my dreams, so I’ve had to find a balance between school, work, and family. My passion has always been reading and writing, but lately I’ve become infatuated with filmmaking. Taking the skills and information I’ve acquired from WWU, I believe I will be able to produce quality books and movies.

Right now, it is difficult for everyone to find footing. People are scared about getting sick, but even more than that, they are terrified that this quarantine will disrupt their lives in irreparable ways. Acts of kindness, like your donation, save lives and give us all hope. Thank you for reminding us of our shared humanity. I hope that someday I will be able to pass on your philanthropy to other people in need.”

Sincerely,

Jabez Andre Baron Richard

Tomorrow, we can show all of the students who need our assistance just how much we care. This Give Day, we invite our faculty and staff to come together to ensure that students like Jabez are able to complete their education and launch their dreams thanks to the power of a Western education. Let’s ensure nothing gets in their way.
