Fujikado re-appointed to Board of Trustees

Gov. Chris Gregoire has reappointed advertising agency executive Betti Fujikado to Western Washington University’s Board of Trustees.

“We are delighted that the governor has reappointed Betti Fujikado to the Board of Trustees. Her service on the Board of Trustees has been outstanding and we look forward to her continued insights and leadership,” said WWU President Bruce Shepard.

Fujikado’s new term began Oct. 1 and ends Sept. 30, 2018. She was originally appointed by the governor to the Board of Trustees in 2009 to fill an unexpired term that ends Sept. 30. Fujikado now begins a full term on the board.

“I continue to be impressed with Western’s students, faculty, and staff. It’s been an honor to serve and I’m pleased to have the opportunity to continue being a part of this community,” Fujikado said.

Fujikado, a Seattle resident, is the co-founder of Copacino+Fujikado, a Seattle advertising agency well known for its client roster including The Seattle Mariners, Seattle Convention & Visitors Bureau, Seattle Children’s Hospital, and Premera Blue Cross. She held executive positions from CFO, COO to CEO at a number of Seattle area companies. She started her career as a CPA at Price Waterhouse in 1977.

Fujikado has a strong commitment to the community. She has served on the Pike Place Market Board as well as active participation through her agency with a number of nonprofits including the Seattle Art Museum, Seattle Aquarium, MOHAI, and United Way of King County.

Fujikado earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington in business administration with an emphasis in accounting.
