Former Huxley dean named to North Pacific and Bering Sea Fisheries Advisory Body

Bradley Smith, former dean of Huxley College of the Environment at Western Washington University, has been appointed to the North Pacific and Bering Sea Fisheries Advisory Body by Anne Hall, the U.S. acting assistant secretary of state.

"I am confident that your deep knowledge of North Pacific fisheries issues and extensive experience working with the Russian Federation will be invaluable to your colleagues on the Advisory Body as well as to us at the Department of State," Hall wrote in an Oct. 21 letter to Smith.

The 12-member body includes representatives from the State of Washington, the State of Alaska, and 10 other individuals nominated by the governors of those states. The body advises the U.S. representative to the U.S. and Russian Federation bilateral International Consultative Committee, which holds regular consultations on fisheries and marine conservation issues.
