Flags to be lowered March 16 in memory of Army soldier

Gov. Inslee, in honor of Army Pfc. James Groth, 22, of Ethal, has directed that Washington state and United States flags at all state agency facilities be lowered to half-staff in his memory on Sunday, March 16, 2014. Pfc. Groth died on Feb. 21 during a training accident at Fort Bragg, N.C.

The Governor's Office has no objection to agencies lowering the flags at the close of business on Friday, March 14. Flags should remain at half-staff until the end of the day on March 16 or first thing Monday morning, March 17.

Other government entities, citizens and businesses are encouraged to join this recognition.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, March 16, at Toledo High School.
