Flags to be lowered in honor of Spokane Marine

Gov. Jay Inslee, in honor of USMC Sgt. Jacob M. Hess, 22, of Spokane, has directed that Washington state and U.S. flags at all state agency facilities be lowered to half-staff in his memory Monday, Jan. 13. Hess died Jan. 1 in Afghanistan of injuries sustained while supporting combat operations.

Flags should remain at half-staff until close of business on Jan. 13 or first thing Tuesday morning, Jan. 14.

Other government entities, citizens and businesses are encouraged to join this recognition.
