Final RSP workshop features Arlie Norman, Bernie Housen, Joann Otto

Research and Sponsored Programs continues to serve the campus community with its workshops designed to help faculty and staff members write more effective proposals to external agencies. This is a new series and is in response to requests from several WWU members.

Dean Emeritus Arlie Norman joins chairs Bernie Housen and Joann Otto in the final RSP workshop for this quarter, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 16 in Viking Union Room 462. All of these individuals have mentored numerous research active faculty members, while also engaging in their own research programs. Panel members will share their own perspective on how best to engage in an active research program at Western, and they will discuss lessons they have learned from mentoring others. Attendees will have ample time for questions in this session.

The sessions are intended to be interactive and are meant to build a community for those involved in writing proposals.  If you have attended our earlier workshops, please note the change in location. Graduate students are encouraged to attend, and light refreshments will be provided.

The focus of the fall quarter workshop series is on those PI’s who will be writing proposals to the National Science Foundation. NSF remains our largest external partner in research funding. In winter and spring quarters, the workshop series will be centered on other funding agencies and issues investigators face while performing their work.

If you would like to RSVP for the workshop or would like to be on the email list for workshop information, please contact the RSP Program Coordinator, Coco Besson, at coco.besson@wwu.edu.
