Faculty-student teams to present writing-instruction research Jan. 28

Three faculty-student research teams will present their studies on selected writing instruction practices, including blogging, peer response and the use of visuals, from noon to 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, in Haggard Hall Room 232.

Each presentation will by followed by a dialogue/Q&A session. Faculty partners will take the lead in outlining their collaborative studies, while student research partners will take the lead in presenting their findings in May during Scholars Week).

Faculty-student pairs and their research topics for this year:

  • Kathleen Young, faculty, and Francesca Leaf, graduate student (Anthropology) on Blogging
  • Korry Harvey, faculty, and Misa Haring, undergraduate (Communication) on Peer Response
  • Diana Jones, faculty, and Rachelle Redd, undergraduate (Human Services) on Using Visuals

The studies are sponsored by the Writing Instruction Support program in Western Libraries.

All are welcome to attend these provocative studies and talk about the implications for teaching and learning.
