Extended Education Marketing winner of five UPCEA awards

Western Washington University’s Extended Education Marketing team is celebrating their success after winning awards in five different categories during the UPCEA 2015 Marketing Awards.

“This is the first time that we have won that I know about,” said Extended Education Marketing Manager Rebecca Beardsall, who joined the EE marketing team three years ago.

Beardsall has served as the EE marketing manager for the past year. The marketing team includes Courtney Hiatt and Carlee Wilson, who serve as communications consultants; Jean Webster who is the web and multimedia designer; and Elissa Mowry the graphic designer.

“Two of the awards were designed by Emily Allen, the team’s student employee, under the guidance of Elissa Mowry,” Beardsall said in an e-mail. Allen created the “Summer Squirrel” cutout photo stand-up as well as the “Summer @ Western popsicle” design.

Five of the six entries that the team submitted were selected as winners. Of the five awards one was a Gold winner, three were Silver winners and one was a Bronze winner.

The team ranked Gold in the poster category for their submission “WWU Huxley Poster.” The Silver awards were given to the “Summer @ Western popsicle” ad for the Miscellaneous Print category, “WWU Pandora Ad” for the radio category and to the “WWU Conference Services Website” for Most Improved.  The team won a Bronze award for their photo stand-up “Summer Squirrel” in the Outdoor Campaign category.

Gold award winners will have a chance at winning Best in Class for their Gold winners, which means that there is potential for the Extended Education Marketing team to win even more, Beardsall said.

The Extended Education Marketing team will receive their awards and have the chance to win Best in Class during the UPCEA Marketing and Enrollment Management Seminar that will take place in Denver, Colorado from Nov. 4 to 6.
