EOO's Mohammed Cato to take new job at UCLA

Mohammed Cato will be leaving Western on Sept. 13, to assume the role of Title IX Coordinator for the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).  Mohammed has worked at Western for just over six years, and most recently has served as Assistant Director for the Equal Opportunity Office and Deputy Title IX Coordinator for the University.  Previous to that, Mohammed served as Assistant Director of Residence Life.  Mohammed earned his bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and English  from UC Irvine and his master’s degree in Urban Planning and  J.D. from UCLA.  He has contributed enormously to the university’s efforts at preventing and responding to sexual violence, both in terms of policy development and conducting investigations.  Among Mohammed’s many outstanding contributions has been his significant work in informally and successfully resolving concerns of discrimination through a variety of mediation techniques.

Over the years Mohammed has been at Western, he has served as a mentor and coach to many students and has been a valued colleague.

We are indebted to Mohammed for his many contributions to Western. We will miss him greatly and wish him all the best!
