Drivers: Note odometer before fueling at WWU pumps

Drivers fueling university vehicles at the Facilities Management fuel pumps on Western Washington University's Bellingham campus are reminded to note the vehicle odometer reading prior to turning off the vehicle at the pump. Doing so will allow drivers to input accurate mileage when prompted by the fueling system. This will avoid unnecessary inconvenience in the future as the system becomes “smarter” regarding whether the correct mileage is being input or not.

If the mileage input is not accurate (rounded down to the nearest mile), the system may not allow fueling. Accurate odometer readings facilitate university reporting and other vehicle-related decision processes.

Drivers experiencing difficulties fueling should contact staff in the nearby maintenance garage for immediate assistance and then call 360-650-6413 with the vehicle license number and correct mileage so that the vehicle account can be updated and reset.

For more information, contact the fuel system manager at 360-650-6413.
