The Associated Students Viking Union Gallery will play host to “Down the Rabbit Hole,” an art show in co-hosted with the Drug Information Center, which is celebrating its 40th Anniversary.

“Down the Rabbit Hole was originally conceived by the DIC's coordinator for their 40th anniversary,” VU Gallery Assistant Coordinator Colleen Barry said. “We wanted to do something new for the DIC, something that would really show the campus involvement and impact the DIC has had in the last 40 years.”

The show portrays the various viewpoints and experiences with drug use and abuse that are exist and the artists for the show are all students, from freshmen to seniors. The art includes photography, painting, sculpture, drawing and spray paint.

“I think that drug use is something almost everyone has come in contact with during their college careers,” Barry said. “Here is a place where all of those feelings and thoughts come together in a personal and relatable way.”

The show, which is free and open to the public, will be held in the VU Gallery from Jan. 11 to Jan. 29. The gallery is open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. An opening reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Jan. 14 in the VU Gallery.

“Above all, though, the art is expressive and personal,” Barry said. “It shows the wide range of ideas and opinions about drug use and the impact it can have on the lives of college students and others.”
