Disability Access Center Offering Neurodiversity Workshops Oct. 19 and 25

Western’s Disability Access Center (DAC) is offering two opportunities to learn more about neurodiversity and utilizing well-designed inclusive practices. Both workshops are offered in partnership with the University of Washington and will be held online via Zoom, advanced registration required. Participants who register for these events will also receive a link to a recording of the workshop which will be available for a limited amount of time after the event date has passed.

The first workshop is designed for student employees, peer mentors, teaching assistants, graduate assistants, advisors, tutors, and general university staff. The second workshop is customized for instructional staff and teaching faculty, and details about and registration links for both workshops are included below:

Workshop for Tutors, TAs, Advisors, Student Employees, General Staff

Tutors, TAs, student employees, academic advisors, or staff members are encouraged to join this workshop that will increase your awareness in neurodiversity and well-designed, inclusive practices. In this DAC-sponsored workshop, you will learn tips in the areas of executive function coaching, effective communication strategies, how and when to make referrals to campus resources, and gain confidence in working with diverse populations.

Workshop for Faculty and Staff

Faculty and staff are encouraged to join the upcoming DAC-sponsored workshop to learn about neurodiversity and universally-designed and inclusive teaching strategies and practices beyond accommodations.
