Craig Dunn has agreed to continue serving as interim dean of the College of Business and Economics  at Western Washington University through the 2014-15 academic year, Provost Brent Carbajal announced today.

“I appreciate Craig Dunn’s continued service as interim dean. I've very much enjoyed working with Craig and I'm confident in his leadership skills and administrative acumen,” Carbajal said.

Carbajal said that the University will be continuing its search for a permanent dean and he thanked the members of the College of Business and Economics Dean Search Committee for their recent efforts to recruit the next dean for CBE.

“After receiving a great deal of feedback and exploring a number of options, I've determined at this point that the interests of the CBE will be best served by looking further and by initiating a new search during the next academic year for a dean who will strongly meet the leadership expectations of the college. We've learned a great deal from the search process this year and I look forward to working with CBE to define and articulate college priorities that will help us identify leadership for the future,” Carbajal said.

Dunn has served as interim dean of CBE since last fall, when Brian Burton, former dean of CBE, started work as associate vice president for Academic Affairs as Western.

Dunn, who began at Western in 2005, has an MBA from California State University, Bakersfield and a doctorate in Business Policy/Strategy from Indiana University. As of the beginning of the upcoming new academic year, Dunn will be a full professor at Western. He also is an associate professor emeritus of San Diego State University. His research interests include managerial ethics and values, corporate social responsibility, corporate governance, the meaning of work, and social entrepreneurship. He has also taught at San Diego State University, Rice University, Indiana University, and California State University, Bakersfield.
