Copies of next year's Western Reads book now available for review

Are you a WWU faculty, staff, or student who would like to review next year's Western Reads book Octavia's Brood: Science Fiction Stories from Social Justice Movements? We now have copies of the book available for review for any member of the campus community with interest in using the book in a course or other experience with students. Please email Western.Reads@wwu.edu with your name, mail stop, & campus address and we'll get you a copy ASAP!

After review, those with interest in using the book with students next year can keep the review copy and apply to receive free copies for your class or student experience on the Western Reads website. Those who do not plan to use the text in work with students are asked to return the book by September 20 to Danielle Smith (at MS 9125 in Wilson Library 481). This will allow us to make hard copies of the text accessible to as many members of the campus community as possible.

In addition to requesting a hard copy for review, you can access the book through Western's library as an e-book with unrestricted access and downloadable chapters. Hard copies of Octavia's Brood are also available for checkout at the Western library beginning mid-June. Or you can purchase your own copy of the book at the Western bookstore.

A curriculum guide will be available on the Western Reads website by July 15.

Campus community members who would like to read the book, hold a book group or work with the book among faculty and staff teams  over the summer can also borrow a set of books and return them by early fall. Email Western.Reads@wwu.edu for more information.

To stay current on Western Reads programming for the coming year visit our site over the summer for up to date information. And look for a press release early fall with more information on programming and book distribution for the 2018-19 academic year.

We look forward to hearing from you!
