Christine Espina Named Interim Director of Western's RN-BSN Program

Christine Espina has been named the interim director of Western's RN-BSN nursing education program. 

Espina received her bachelor's degree in Nursing from Oklahoma Baptist University in 2003, her master's degree from the University of Washington in 2010, and in 2012 completed the post-master's Doctor of Nursing program at the University of Washington. She worked as the lead nurse planner in the Continuing Nursing Education program at the University of Washington in 2014-15, and in the School of Nursing and Health Studies at the University of Washington- Bothell before that.

The RN-to-BSN Interim Program Director is responsible and accountable for ensuring the fulfillment of educational goals and objectives, and ensuring program compliance with the Washington State Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission (NCQAC) and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Although these responsibilities are time-limited for the interim role, leadership in both academic and workforce areas is expected to continue meeting student retention goals; directing and participating in educational planning; program organization; motivating and advising students; maintaining the program budget and generating program reports as needed.

Espina has been appointed as a non-tenure-track faculty member in the Department of Health and Community Studies, with direct reporting to the dean of the Woodring College of Education regarding administration of the program.
