Celebration of International Women's Day coming March 7

Two events celebrating women are slated to take place on the Western Washington University campus on March 7, the day before International Women's Day:

International Women’s Day: Join the Celebration!
12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday, March 7, in the Miller Hall Collaborative Space

Join student groups from across campus in fun and informational activities. Find out about issues affecting women in the US and internationally, learn how International Women's Day is celebrated around the world, and make cards to honor the inspiring women in your life.

What is International Women's Day? Discussion Followed by Screening of "Apache 8"
6 p.m. Friday, March 7, in Viking Union Room 552

International Women's Day is an official holiday in 28 countries and is widely observed in many more. Join students and faculty in an international, interdisciplinary discussion about what the day means to them. The discussion will be followed by a screening of "Apache 8," the inspiring documentary about an all-female wildland firefighting crew from the White Mountain Apache Tribe.

These events are sponsored by International Student and Scholar Services, Women Studies and Prevention and Wellness Services.
