Celebration of Excellence Awards nominations extended to Feb. 19

Dear Colleagues:   

The nomination deadline for several of our 2021 Celebration of Excellence Awards is being extended to Friday, February 19. I realize this is a busy time for everyone, but I encourage you to take the time to nominate your deserving colleagues for this campus-wide recognition. While this has been an extremely challenging year for all of us, there are so many examples of employees adapting, overcoming obstacles and accomplishing amazing things as we’ve pressed on through this pandemic and challenging times. While the 2021 ceremony will be a celebration of our collective accomplishments this past year, there is great value in giving special recognition to those who have made an extraordinary contribution to Western’s mission and our ability to serve students. 

The 2021 Celebration of Excellence Awards is currently planned as a virtual event to be broadcast live on Friday, June 4, 2021. I hope this deadline extension provides extra time for you to nominate colleagues for the following awards: 

• Equity & Inclusion Achievement Award 
• Outstanding Classified Staff Award 
• Philip E. Sharpe, Jr. Community Engagement Award 
• President's Exceptional Effort Awards (8 recipients) 
• Professional Staff Award for Excellence  
• Team Recognition Award

The foundation of Western’s success is our people, and the talent, teamwork, and dedication you bring to serving our students and our mission.  Whether we work with students every day or ensure operational excellence behind the scenes, each of us makes a difference to the student experience, to the effectiveness of our colleagues, and to the success of Western as a whole.
