Career Services Center offers new resume builder software for free

Western’s Career Services Center has begun offering a free resume-building service called Optimal Resume for students, faculty and staff.

Employed by hundreds of universities through the world, Optimal Resume guides the user in the resume process from content creation to online publication, including creation of a personalized Web site. The online software includes instructions and examples customized to Western’s colleges and majors. There is help for each resume section and a career exploration component, available all the time online.

The new resource also includes free access to Efolio, an electronic file cabinet that lets users upload a variety of document types and provide descriptions and viewing requirements for each. This application organizes projects in an attractive, easily accessible system for employers.

Anyone with a WWU email account can use this new resource, available at the Career Services Center Web site at http://www.careers.wwu.edu/. The center is two training sessions for Optimal Resume. Free registration is required. Training dates and times:

Western’s Career Services Center assists students and alumni with their personal and career goals and helps them obtain career employment or seek admission to graduate or professional education programs after the completion of their studies at Western. Services include career advising and exploration, job search techniques, resume reviews, on-campus recruiting, internship and volunteer opportunities, grad school and pre-health advising and career fairs.
