Candy Castellanos to Discuss King County’s Strategic Climate Action Plan May 31

Candy Castellanos will speak about King County’s Strategic Climate Action Plan as part of the WWU Huxley College of the Environment Speaker Series at 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 31 in Academic Center West room AW-204 on the Western Washington University campus.

The presentation is free and open to the public.

Sustainability has come to mean many things to many people. Often it takes the shape of describing behaviors, goals, and frameworks organizations or individuals use to minimize environmental impacts. Less common, sustainability is understood as an interconnected system. Using the lens of change leadership, the tenants of resilience, and models of organizational development, Castellanos will explore what it means to sustain the members of the sustainability movement and sustainability ecosystem itself.

Candy Castellanos is the founding principal of Radiant Consulting, LLC, a firm dedicated to building capacity for positive change within communities, teams, and organizations. She has 15 years experience designing award-winning behavior change programs, and five years experience developing partnerships for effective multicultural and multilingual engagement and is a Board Member of the Washington State Recycling Association. As a community leader and passionate environmental educator,

Castellanos has also been involved in local nonprofit and professional organizations, including Zero Waste Washington, Washington Green Schools, the Pacific Northwest Social Marketing Association, and the Solid Waste Association of North America. Candy's passion for waste diversion started at an early age - in 8th grade she organized the first recycling program at her middle school in California.
