Campuswide Western Alert and Lockdown Drill Set for Oct. 19

Western works hard to provide for the safety of the campus community. It does so in many ways, as can be seen on the Campus Safety Resources website. As part of this continuing effort, the Central Health and Safety Committee has recommended that three safety drills be performed per year: lockdown, earthquake and fire. Supporting this recommendation, the all-campus lockdown drill will take place in conjunction with the Fall Western Alert Test on Thursday, Oct. 19 at 9:35 a.m. The Western Alert test will utilize e-mail, text messaging, on-campus computer monitors, social media, and Western's building annunciation system.

An orientation video explaining how to prepare and what to do during the drill will be made available to all students and employees prior to the drill. For related safety information now, visit the University Police web page.
