Campus Community Coalition Plans Neighborly Summit Nov. 5

The Campus Community Coalition is planning a “Think Locally, Act Neighborly” summit to bring students and neighbors together on Saturday, Nov. 5. The summit will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5 at the Firs Conference Center (Alpine Room) at 4605 Cable St., Bellingham. The event is free and open to the public but registration is requested. To register, go to: www.campuscommunitycoalition.com Over the summer students from Bellingham Technical College, Whatcom Community College and Western Washington University planned the summit to bring students from each campus together with neighborhood and community representatives for a day of learning about student impact on a community and creating plans for engagement. In prior years, the coalition has distributed the “Think Locally, Act Neighborly” door hangars in neighborhoods with a lot of student residents. The door hangers included information about appropriate behavior, hosting responsible parties and getting involved with the neighborhood. The Campus Community Coalition, which is hosted at Western, promotes working relationships and communication among a variety of stakeholders with the goal of improving our community’s health, safety, and quality of life.
