Campus begins donation drive for the Lighthouse Mission

WWU campus partners are hosting a donation drive to collect menstrual hygiene products, toiletry items, and women’s socks and underwear to be donated to the Lighthouse Mission for use in their facilities.  The overall goal is to bring awareness to some of the unique challenges faced by those in need in Bellingham.  The donations will help satisfy the high demand for these items at local Bellingham shelters.

Each person who donates an item will receive a ticket to a WWU basketball game.  Those donating items Nov. 26 through Dec. 1 will receive a ticket to the Dec. 1 women’s basketball game versus Montana State – Billings.  Those donating items Dec. 8-12 will receive a ticket to the Dec. 8 men’s basketball game versus Columbia Bible College.

While full boxes of menstrual hygiene products are encouraged, packaged single items will be accepted.  In addition, socks, underwear, soap, shampoo, deodorant, toothbrushes, and toothpaste are being collected (travel size and full size items accepted).

Donations can be dropped at the following locations:  Residence Hall front desks, Wade King Recreation Center, Edens Hall 118 (Men’s Resiliency Office), Carver Gym Box Office on game days, and at the Sehome Village Haggen (4-7 p.m. on Nov. 30, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Dec. 1, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Dec. 8).

We hope you are able to contribute!  See you at the games!
