Bring your sweater: Environmental Studies Building heat shutdown begins Monday

FM will begin the replacement of the Environmental Studies Building Heat Exchanger Monday, April 22, 2013 and expect the project to be completed by May 31, 2013.  This is critical work to complete as the old heat exchanger could fail at any time.

Due to the nature of the work a majority of the building heating system will not be functional from Monday, April 22, 2013 through May 31, 2013.  Due to issues such as scheduling and budget constraints we are unable to wait for warmer weather to perform this critical work.  This may mean cool temperatures inside ES depending upon the outside temperatures.

FM will do everything we are able to in order to keep the building temperate; however we have no control over Mother Nature. The good news is that sunshine and warmer weather are predicted to be coming our way beginning on Monday. Just in case this changes we are asking all the occupants of ES to be prepared for the possibility of cooler days by layering and/or keeping a warm sweater or other clothing in your office to keep you comfortable in the event that outside temperatures drop. Space heaters are not allowed due to the potential overload of the electrical system for the building and safety concerns including fire.

Please contact the FM Work Control Center if you have further questions or concerns regarding this project at x3420 or FM.WorkControlCenter@wwu.edu

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this project, we will do all we can to minimize the disruption and return the building to full service as soon as we are able to.
